Custom message: Just like the previous function, your contacts will receive a message and your location on the press of this button. However, you can here write in advance any personalized message that you want to communicate.

Track Progress: This is probably the most advanced function as it enables your pre-determined contacts to track your progress in real-time on Google Maps. Your device communicates your position at regular intervals so as to be visualized on Google Maps. It also saves a GPS Mobile Phone tracking history of your whereabouts.

The was designed to propose great security and comfort to its user. Now let’s see if it also lives up to our expectations.

GPS in phones haven’t taken that great a GPS Mobile Phone leap forward as we expected in 2009. With the growing prevalence of built-in GPS receivers in mobile handsets at the end of last year, it suggested that we’d see a vast improvement in the navigation software installed on the phones we buy. Instead, touchscreens took the spotlight and we’ve seen only a few phones released with decent navigation apps.

That’s a lot more than Google’s service, which is free on GPS Mobile Phone phones that use recent versions of Google’s mobile software platform, Android. Nokia ( NOK – news – people ), too, began offering free turn-by-turn navigation on its high-end handsets in January. (See “Nokia Takes On Google In Maps.”)Microsoft ( MSFT – news – people ) did the same for select Windows Mobile devices in mid-May. Nevertheless, TeleNav believes consumers are still willing to pay for navigation on their phones.

This is a very timely question as only a week ago a device was announced that fits perfectly: the HP GPS Phones Mobile Messenger. In Australia, users also get one-month free subscription to Where is Navigator.

GPS Phones position is all the more striking given that Google (GOOG – news – people ) just announced it would expand its free navigation software to 10 European countries and Canada. Previously, the Internet giant’s Google Maps Navigation service was only available in the U.S. and U.K.

Google has just GPS Phone added a new feature “My Location” feature to Google Maps for mobile phones. Basically, it works like GPS, but instead of connecting to a satellite, it gathers information from nearby cell towers to determine your location. So your phone doesn’t need to be GPS enabled, it just needs to have a data plan in order to plot your position on a map.

It has GPS navigation, Bluetooth, infrared and quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE for voice and data. There is a built-in QWERTY keyboard similar to the GPS Phone for thumb-typing messages and it comes with handheld versions of Word, Excel, Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player 10. The only notable omission from the hw6515′s list of connectivity options is wireless LAN. Oh, and while Google could theoretically use this information to stalk you, if you believe the promotional video above, the company claims that it doesn’t keep tabs on your personal information and location.
